We are the Donald family from Meridian, MS. My Mother Minnie Donald is why I wanted to do this site. She is all that I want to be in life, strong, God fearing and the most giving woman that I know. I want our family tree to show who we are and where we come from and Also where we are going. We are one in love in God and in life. Let,s Grow and keep our stories alive.
Dempsey Donald survived slavery and the Emancipation for us. Dempsey Donald, a slave, was fortunate to have his new master was kinder than most slaveholders. After the Emancipation he purchased a small plot of land which he increased in time to 360 acres. He even got married in a store bought suit. One day he ran across his brother, Cosom Roberts, he discovered that they lived only a few miles of each other. His house still stands in the woods on land he purchased. When he died, he left each of his six living children 60 acres of land, some gold and silver coins, cows, horses, hogs which enriched their adult lives. Caroline, his wife, and mother of all of us, lived only 30 years.
